Metro Tiles

There's something about them. They have character, style. They evoke the past.

The little underground. It rumbles through the tunnel, I can already see its light around the corner, my grandmother holds my hand.

We're going to the zoo. On the way, I get cotton candy.

Even when I first saw them in a bathroom, they really captivated me. Since then, this feeling has only grown stronger.

Nowadays, they're enjoying a new golden age. At once conservative and modern. Clean yet special. Regular yet unconventional. Not mosaic, but not quite tiles either.

Personality. Style.

To the great delight of manufacturers, distributors, and last but not least designers, they now come in a vast selection of colors, sizes, and materials.

From micro to giant, from glass to glazed, they tempt us in colors more beautiful than the last.

For me, the white standard size remains my favorite. Combined with black, dark brown, gray, and metallic colors — for me, that's the perfect combination, whether we're talking about a kitchen or a bathroom.

Of course, that doesn't mean I don't find the turquoise, mauve, pink, or even fire-red versions beautiful. The choice is always in the client's hands.

We need to choose the tile that suits their personality and character.

Personally, I'm also terribly fond of the larger-format versions.

Let's be careful, however, to preserve the tile's character.

We can vary the laying pattern: herringbone, or grid, offset or without. Horizontally or vertically, or even combining the two. We can use it on an entire wall or combine it with a painted section.

We can vary the colors, just pay attention that it's the simplicity and cleanliness of this tile that gives it its true character.

And finally, a combination that cannot be ignored.

I hope in the future I'll have a client who feels this is theirs, because to me it's extraordinarily masculine and unique…
