There are times when you step into an apartment and simply stop. You do not need to search for what captivates you. You feel it. It is there in the air.
Erika has such a home.
Refined taste. A determined personality. Years in America - and everything one absorbs there: elegance, high standards, that kind of natural self-assurance that does not apologise for wanting beautiful things around.
These 90 square metres reflect exactly that.
One of the apartment's first protagonists is the staircase. Classic, white, wooden - and yes, it immediately sets the tone. It does not push, it does not shout. It simply stands there and knows it is beautiful. Exactly the way a truly elegant woman never needs to call attention to herself.
Light here is no accidental guest. The apartment's orientation provides plenty of it - and we let it have its way. Light walls, soft tones, nothing superfluous. But what is there, all matters.
The light fixtures. These I am particularly proud of. From the same manufacturer, the same product family - because a well-composed whole has a soul. The textured glass globes in their golden setting... you cannot take your eyes off them. By day they reflect light, by evening they create their own little universe. Not a lamp - jewellery!
The colour gold returns throughout the apartment, again and again. Tap, handle, lamp. Always just a touch - but always precisely where it belongs. Just like a well-chosen accessory: it does not dominate the outfit, it completes it.
At the heart of the living room stands a bespoke painting - in Erika's favourite colours. Green, gold, beige. Vivid yet harmonious. This is the gesture that makes a space personal. Not an apartment, but a HOME. Someone's. Hers.
The upholstery, the rugs, the curtains - the same guiding principle applies to each: soft, warm, inviting. Because no matter how beautiful a space is, it fails if it does not beckon you back. Erika's home, however, makes you stay.
And then there is the vanity corner in the bedroom. My personal favourite from this project. A built-in dressing table, floor-to-ceiling mirror, brass crystal chandelier pendants, velvet pouf - from mauve to burgundy. This is not a makeup table. This is the site of a ritual. Of waking, of the morning preparation, where another day begins that makes life complete.
Erika knew exactly what she wanted. My job was simply to find the right form for it.
I finally have a home that looks the way I have always felt inside - elegant, warm, and unapologetically beautiful.
